By now users should all be familiar with the Gnome control center and just how things work. The control center contains several system settings modules with loads of different options.
Control Center Categories
The Gnome control center has multiple categories that contain all of your system settings modules. Here is a closer look at some of the settings that will help you with your connections and sharing services.
This is where you can configure your Bluetooth devices. The Bluetooth status-bar icon can be toggled on or off as well.

Here you can configure your systems network connections. The following connection types are available, wired, wireless. mobile broadband, VPN, DSL.

This window will allow you to configure your network proxy settings, a direct internet connection is used by default. You can also add specific IP addresses that you would like to refuse connections from.

This is where you can configure all of your personal file sharing options. For security you can add a password to access files on the network. More Bluetooth file sharing options are available as well.

Use this window to configure your remote desktop settings. You can enable other users to view your desktop, or control your desktop. For security you can add a password, you can automatically accept incoming remote desktop requests, or you can require confirmation for each access to your machine. Options are also available to toggle your system panel icon.

The first time you attempt to open this window you will be prompted to install NFS and SMB file sharing services. Then you can add or remove shared folders on your system. Existing folders can be re-configured using the properties button.
