An often overlooked feature of the Gnome desktop environment is the ability to easily configure your keyboard shortcuts. Many keyboard shortcuts are already configured by default but several more can be added at any time.

Efficient keyboard shortcuts can greatly increase your productivity, but it is remembering them all that seems to be the problem. Nonetheless, you can always open the Gnome keyboard shortcuts window to see the available shortcuts any time, or just be sure to bookmark this page for future reference.
Launch Gnome Control Center
Find the keyboard shortcuts settings inside the preferences menu, or look in the gnome control center with the following commands.
$ gnome-control-center
Here are some useful keyboard shortcuts that will help you interact with the default media player.
Volume Mute
Set a keyboard shortcut to mute the audio output volume at any time.
