Watching Linux Evolve
The Gnome desktop environment is generally loaded with choices when it comes to screensavers, and more are always easy to get. After installation I always find that one of my first tasks is always adjusting the time before my screensaver becomes activated.
Finding Your Settings
Here is a closer look at the settings that can be found for your screensaver if you are using the Gnome desktop environment. Your Gnome screensaver settings can usually be found in your preferences menu, or inside the Gnome control center.
Launch The Control Center
The Gnome control center can be opened using the commands below.
$ gnome-control-center
Here you can see all of the available options that reside inside the Gnome desktop screensaver settings window.
Preview
You can select one of the available screensavers then choose preview to test it out.
Regard The Computer As Idle After
Use the time slider to set how long your computer must remain idle before your screensaver becomes activated.
Activate Screensaver When Computer Is Idle
This will enable or disable your screensaver.
Lock Screen When Screensaver Is Active
When this option is toggled your system will require a password before exiting the screensaver.
