This time we will take a look at the power manager for the Xfce 4 desktop. This tool can be used to reduce the power output of your system, and control a few useful options.
Battery Monitor
The Xfce 4 power management tool is especially useful for users with laptops and any device using battery power. Use the Xfce 4 power manager to limit your power output and maximize your battery time.
Generally the power manager will be loaded automatically by the session manager when you login. If you want to you can launch this tool manually in normal mode or in daemon mode, just use the commands below.
Regular Mode
This will launch the power manager in the background which is normal.
xfce4-power-manager
No Daemon Mode
Use the next command to launch the Xfce 4 power manager in no daemon mode which may be useful for debugging.
xfce4-power-manager --no-daemon
Power Manager Settings
Use this command to launch the power manager settings dailog.
xfce4-power-manager-settings
Power Manager Restart
You can use this to restart the Xfce 4 power manager.
xfce4-power-manager --restart
Power Manager Quit
If you want to quit the Xfce 4 power manager you can with the commands below.
xfce4-power-manager --quit
